This site invites kids to create their own podcasts as well as allowing adults to post kid-appropriate casts (and no doubt, the kids helped with the process). Each podcast is "age-rated" and reviewed before being posted. Some of the casts are adults reading stories or "lessons" for kids, while others created by kids include discussions of discrimination, global warming, and book reviews.

New Letters on the Air [P]

Hosted by Angela Elam, this is a half-hour radio companion to the literary quarterly magazine New Letters. Past guests include U.S. Poet Laureates Ted Kooser, Rita Dove, Billy Collins; Pulitzer Prize winning playwrights August Wilson, Suzan-Lori Parks, Tony Kushner and novelists Jim Harrison, Jane Smiley, Richard Russo. The program, which also features emerging writers of poetry, fiction, drama and creative non-fiction, is produced by the University of Missouri-Kansas City and distributed via Public Radio’s Content Depot.

The term podiobooks was coined by Evo Terra to describe serialized audio books which are made available in podcast format. Listeners to Podiobooks.com can choose to receive the episodes of their books via an RSS feed or by listening to episodes by directly downloading episodes from this site. There is no fee for downloading books, though donations are encouraged throughout the site.

Red Lion Square is a free, weekly podcast of contemporary poetry intended for a general audience. Each episode includes music and poetry with a segment called "the after party" which might be music, interviews, live readings, etc.

A River & Sound Review [P]
