Program description: The Master of Fine Arts Program in Writing at Sarah Lawrence confers degrees in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. Study at Sarah Lawrence includes weekly workshops and craft classes; a yearlong colloquium in which writers and publishing professionals talk with students about every aspect of the writing life; and biweekly, one-on-one meetings between student and workshop instructor.

In these biweekly conferences, our faculty of distinguished writers engages with your work in depth and in detail, accompanying you every step of the way as you investigate the possibilities of your art. We know of no other writing program that offers this degree of mentorship.

The opportunity to share your work with our faculty every two weeks makes our program especially well-suited to students who wish to devote themselves steadily and seriously to their writing. Sarah Lawrence, we believe, is an ideal place for you if you're ready to put writing at the center of your life.
