Publisher’s description: Booth was founded in 2008 as an offshoot of the Butler University MFA program and currently publishes fresh literature every Friday on its website. In addition, Booth offers up two quality paperback issues a year (December and May) that are visually arresting. Booth embraces great storytelling, distinctive voices, both classic and inventive forms, gravity + comedy, grim reapers and grand weepers, and anything carried by a rich sense of story and heart.
Booth offers up the work of both celebrated and emerging writers. Past contributors include Jonathan Lethem, Jane Hamilton, George Saunders, Nick Flynn, Roxane Gay, Kim Addnizio, Michael Martone, Charles Simic, Ethel Rohan, Robin Black, Richard Rodriguez, Alicia Erian, Ryan Boudinot, and more. Every January Booth invites submissions for a writing contest. Previous rounds have included a Chapter One contest(Final Judge: Richard Russo) and Poetry contest(Final Judge: Linda Gregg).
“Its creative lightheartedness makes it a welcome addition to the crowded ranks of literary magazines, so many of which tend to dwell on the more depressing aspects of life. Booth provides a lot of bang. It’s certainly worth adding to contemporary American literature collections.” -Library Journal
